August 2007
To:
Parents/Guardians/Students
I would like to
take this opportunity to welcome you to Huntsville Middle School.
My name is LaMance Bryant, principal of Huntsville Middle School.
We here at HMS
are looking forward to an exciting year with your student, filled
with great academic success. We want you to feel welcome to visit
our school and visit with your student’s teacher. We do request
that you make an appointment with the teachers to speak with them
during their planning times each day.
To ensure each
student has the opportunity to excel in each of their classes, it is
very important that your student is PRESENT AND ON TIME
each day and that they obey all the disciplinary and classroom
rules. These rules are for the safety and well being of each and
every student and teacher here at school. We will be enforcing the
rules set forth in the “Scott County Schools,
Student Handbook”, therefore we request that each student
and parent read the handbook to become familiar with the rules and
consequences. If there should be a rule that is not clear, please
call the school and I will be glad to talk with you.
These rules and
guidelines are in place to help protect each student and provide a
safe learning environment so that each student will have the
opportunity to reach their maximum potential. Each of the rules and
consequences will be read to each student the first full day of
school and each student will sign a form stating the handbook was
read to them and that they understand the rules.
A copy of the
handbook will then be given to each student and it will be
understood that these rules are effective immediately.
All parents must
fill out a lunch application form even if you are not
applying for free or reduced price meals. If you are not applying,
put the name of the student on the form and sign (this lets the
auditors know that you were offered the opportunity to apply). Each
student must have a form on file with the school. THIS IS A
STATE LAW.
This year HMS
pick-ups will be at the end of the building closest to the football
field. No HMS student will be allowed on the elementary side of the
building without special permission from both principals.
I feel that open
and clear communication between the school and home are important to
the success of our educational programs.
I welcome your
participation and support during the coming year. Working together
we can reach our goals and celebrate together the success and
achievements of our students.
Sincerely,
LaMance Bryant, Principal
