Family Reading Night

For a number of years Huntsville Elementary and Huntsville Middle have been sponsoring regular "Family Reading Nights".  These involve opening the library and computer lab for an evening event.  Parents and other family members are encouraged to bring their student(s) during this time to read books with them and to allow them to take Accelerated Reader Tests on the books.  The Huntsville Elementary regularly serves Pizza or snacks and provides door prizes.  Once a year the reading night includes a “Family Book Fair Night” and regularly the PTO holds brief informational meetings during break-snack time.

It is exciting and encouraging to see such a positive event.  Attendance frequently tops 100 and each reading night is highly anticipated by students.  They love to have a chance to show-off to family while earning extra “AR” points.  The interaction between parents, grandparents, siblings, or other family and their student(s) is wonderful to observe.  The event also provides an opportunity for parents to interact with teachers on an informal note and to better understand their child’s academic performance.

"Family Reading Night" begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.  Please make plans to attend.
