August 2010
To:
Parents/Guardians/Students
I would like to
take this opportunity to welcome you to Huntsville Middle School.
My name is LaMance Bryant, principal of Huntsville Middle School.
We here at HMS
are looking forward to an exciting, academically successful year with your
child. We want you to feel welcome to visit
our school and visit with your child’s teacher. However, we request
that you schedule a parent/teacher conference appointment so that it
may be scheduled during the teacher's planning time.
To ensure each
student has the opportunity to excel in each of his/her classes, it is
very important that your child is PRESENT AND ON TIME
each day, and they obey all the disciplinary and classroom
rules. These rules are for the safety and well being of each and
every student and teacher here at school. We will be enforcing the
rules set forth in the “Scott County Schools,
Student Handbook”; therefore, we request that each student
and parent read the handbook to become familiar with the rules and
consequences. If there should be a rule that is unclear, please
call the school, and I will be glad to talk with you.
These rules and
guidelines are in place to help protect each student and provide a
safe learning environment so that each student will have the
opportunity to reach his/her maximum potential. A copy of the
handbook will be given to each student, and it will be understood
that these rules are effective immediately.
By State of
Tennessee and Scott County Board Policy, there is NO
charging of lunches and breakfasts at school. Students may
pay by the day, by the week in advance or by the month in advance.
Our school cashier will notify the students as they come through the
lunch line if they have no money in their lunch account.
This year HMS
pick-ups will be staged from the library. Students will be allowed
to leave the library through the west exit door as their pick-up
ride parks in the same area as last year. No HMS student will be allowed on the elementary side of the
building without special permission from both principals.
Pick-up students can be picked up at 2:45 P.M.
I feel that open
and clear communication between the school and home is important to
the success of our educational programs.
We ask that you
fill out the forms needed by the school. In addition to the
Enrollment Form, please complete the School Reach Form.
This information is used to send an automated call to parents in
the event of snow days or any unexpected event that may effect our
school day or sporting events. For example, dismissing school early
(due to some unforeseen event such as inclement weather) would need
to be communicated immediately to parents through this automated
system.
I welcome your
participation and support during the coming year. By working together,
we can reach our goals and celebrate together the success and
achievements of your child.
Sincerely,
LaMance Bryant, Principal
