HMS Student Government Visits Nashville

Huntsville Middle School’s Student Government recently traveled to Nashville for an educational experience focused on government, history, and culture. During the trip, students spent a day at the Tennessee State Capitol, where they observed a live legislative session, toured the building, and met with state representatives Kelly Keisling and Ed Butler.

In addition to their time at the Capitol, students explored several of Nashville’s most notable sites. They toured the Tennessee State Museum and the State Library and Archives, gaining a deeper understanding of Tennessee’s history. The group also visited Nissan Stadium and enjoyed a backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry, where they had the opportunity to attend a live performance. The trip concluded with a visit to The Hermitage, the historic home of President Andrew Jackson.

This experience provided students with valuable insight into the workings of government while also exposing them to the rich cultural heritage of the state.

Huntsville Middle School is proud to be the only middle school in the district with an active student government. Throughout the year, Student Government members lead and participate in meaningful initiatives, including hosting the school’s Veterans Day Parade, supporting efforts to improve school culture, and recognizing teachers and staff with appreciation activities.

Sponsors Marcus Neal and Joy Perry are honored to support this outstanding group of students and are grateful for the many opportunities made possible for them. The continued support of the community plays a vital role in providing these experiences, and Huntsville Middle School extends its sincere appreciation to all who contribute.
